Skool of Rock!
October 17, 2007
And just for all those who missed it first time round, a year and a bit ago, here’s the Skool of Rock mix for you again – featuring treats from the likes of Queen, David Bowie, Kiss, ZZ Top and more, it’s over an hour of crashing power-chords and driving disco rhythms. Enjoy!
ROACH 1 “Barbarians” Mix
October 9, 2007
Roach 1 used to be found behind the counter in some of Glasgow’s finer record emporiums…back in the days when people used to frequent their vinyl outlets as much as they do eBay and Juno now.
When not schooling the local youth on which Top Of The Pops and James Last records contain break beats, he can be found tinkering with his band Gael Force or finding records to sell to people who like to splash out.
He’s also helped license dusty classics such as the steel drum version of Gary Numan’s Cars on Paul & Michael Hunter’s Red Hook label and more recently Ralph Lundsten’s proto hip hop classic Horrorscope…I think he even played triangle on the Phonojack cover version! Anyway, this is a mix he gave to James Pole 2 years ago and it’s so good we thought we’d put it up on here…a whole mix of stuff, from rare prog to Gainsbourg, Bollywood to heavy funk 45’s….enjoy!
Trippy Disco “6AM Eternal” Mix
September 21, 2007
This week Discopia’s main man Niall O’Conghaile brings you the latest installment in the ongoing adventures of TRIPPY DISCO, his production pseudonym and general state of mind. Taking inspiration from the twisted sounds of Cosmic Disco, but bringing it up to date with his own particular psychedelic and funky twists, this is the “6AM Eternal” Mix!
Featuring the likes of Six Cups of Rebel, the Wighnomy Brothers, Kelley Polar and the Idjut Boys alongside evergreens from Tangerine Dream, Visage, The Real Thing and Laurie Anderson, this is a diverse mix that will keep you going in the wee small hours of the morning…
Niall says he may put up the tracklisting for this mix, but only if you behave yourselves!
But anyway, just click below to hear the goodness…
